I start out drawing several roughs on Aquabee Tracing Paper. I like using tracing paper because you can start out with a real basic design and use layers of tracing paper to build on the design. The image above is the last rough of the poster design I did. I draw the roughs a little smaller than the actual art size as it is easier for me to work this way and faster. The Misfits rough is approximately 6" x 13". As for the pencils I use, they are good old "Black Warrior" pencils. |

The next step is enlarging the rough to the correct size. I enlarge the art I have to piece copies together using tape to form the complete design. The image for the poster will be 10" x 22" when I'm done. |

Next, I transfer the design onto the illustration board. I do this by using a pencil and covering the complete back of the enlarged copy I have made. Then, I flip the copy back over with the shaded side down and tape the copy in place. I trace over all the lines on the copy and this transfers the design onto the illustration board. |

At this point the design is very light, but I can see enough to start working on the actual art. In the image you can see that I have started inking in the logo. I start inking and then use tracing paper again to cover the art as I work to keep it clean. The pens I use are Koh-I-Noor "Radiographs" and the ink I use is FW Non-Clogging Waterproof India Ink. |

You can see more of the DEATH NOTE coming to life (or is that death?). Notice the black marks in the lower right corner. I use non-clogging ink but my pens still clog up every now and then. Also note that the illustration board is a little larger than the finished piece. |

I have an art table but rarely use it. For the most part I use small table or desk and watch horror movies or the news while I draw. (is that a blood stain on the carpet under the table?). |

Most of the ink is now done. The show for the Misfits will be at the House of Blues, so I pencil in my own version of the House of Blues logo. |

Next, I scan in the art at 300 DPI in greyscale. From that point, I use Photoshop to add the colors. After the colors are finished I email the files to teh printer or publisher (in this case, Drowning Creek Studios) and they handle the rest. |
